Details

This Werkmeister Conference concerns the imagination and its relation to other aspects of the mind. Questions we wish to discuss during the workshop include, but are not limited to:

What is the relationship between so-called “propositional” and “imagistic” imagining?

How does imagination make for knowledge?

What relation does imagination bear to the rest of the cognitive economy, e.g., desire, memory, perception, emotion?

What role does imagination play in scientific theorizing and understanding?

How might the imagination relate to certain mental illnesses, e.g., OCD, depression, etc.?

How does historical work on these topics intersect (or contrast) with contemporary approaches?

We welcome abstracts of 800-1000 words (excluding references) on these or other topics concerning the imagination to be submitted by October 30, 2024, 11:59 PM EST to [email protected]
