Details

The second annual conference of the ICCS “AI and Sentience” will be held on July 3-5, 2025, in Heraklion, Crete. The conference will cover the main topics on the cross of AI and consciousness studies, focusing on sentience:

  • Is AI sentience possible?
  • What is AI sentience?
  • How to detect sentience in AI systems?
  • What are the limits of AI sentience?
  • What theories of consciousness can explain AI sentience?
  • What the possibility of AI sentience tells us about human and animal consciousness?
  • How close are we to AI sentience?
  • What are the moral implications of AI sentience?

The conference will include plenary sessions and discussions with invited speakers, symposia and poster presentations. Each symposium will consist of four short presentations (up to 10 minutes) and a longer moderated discussion. The main aim of the symposia is to raise a controversial problem and involve the participants and the audience in conversation.
