Details

The Department of Philosophy at Uppsala University will be hosting a conference on the language and metaphysics of normativity (broadly construed) on May 30-31, 2016. The conference is under the auspices of the Varieties of Normativity Project, funded by the Swedish Research Council (vr.se). The confirmed invited speakers are:

            Stephanie Leary (Rutgers)

            Pekka Väyrynen (Leeds)

            Jack Woods (Bilkent)

Several additional speakers will be selected through an anonymous review of submissions.  For each paper selected, the Department will contribute up to 5000 SEK to cover the travel and accommodations of the author(s).

Please submit either a full paper suitable for a 45-minute presentation or a long, detailed abstract (at least 1500 words) on any topic concerning the language and/or metaphysics of normativity (broadly construed).  Please ensure that the paper or abstract is formatted and redacted for anonymous review.  Papers and abstracts should be sent to [email protected]. Deadline for submissions is February 1, 2016. Decisions will be made by mid-March.

Questions about the conference can be directed to Daniel Fogal ([email protected]), though if you have a question that might compromise the anonymous review procedure, please direct it to [email protected].
