Deadline: November 15, 2012

The 17th annual meeting of the Association for the Scientific Study of Consciousness will be held in San Diego, USA from Thursday 11th – Monday 15th, July 2013. The Program committee invites proposals for symposia on any topic relevant to the scientific study of consciousness. Symposia/talks should be spread over topics in consciousness science, paying close attention to areas that may have been overlooked last year or in previous years. ASSC has a strong preference for symposia proposals to focus on specific questions rather than a set of loosely related talks. Proposals that integrate multiple methodologies around common questions are particularly welcome. Accepted symposium speakers will be provided free accommodation at the conference hotel and their registration fees will be waived. Please refer to our website http://www.theassc.org/assc_17_call_for_symposia for further information, and send the proposal along with submission requirements to Tobias Schlicht by October 31st. Please note that the Program Committee will begin making decisions regarding the acceptance of symposia very shortly after the deadline date, so that late proposals will be at a serious disadvantage. Proposals should be no more than 6 pages in length, and should include a summary, short descriptions of the individual talks, and short biographies of the speakers. Proposers should seek the agreement of speakers that they will attend ASSC17 if their proposal is accepted; this agreement should be stated on the proposal.

2. ASSC17 CALL FOR TUTORIAL PROPOSALS

Further information: http://www.theassc.org/assc_17_call_for_tutorials
Deadline: November 15, 2012

The 17th annual meeting of the Association for the Scientific Study of Consciousness will be held in San Diego, USA from Thursday 11th – Monday 15th, July 2013. One of the aims of this meeting is to allow researchers to gain a background in areas that they may know little about. Towards that end a number of tutorials are planned. Tutorial presenters are expected to present not only their own material, but to give a broader tutorial overview and to encourage discussion, debate, and audience participation. Tutorials will be held in parallel sessions on the morning and afternoon of 11th July 2013.
Each tutorial is intended to last approximately three hours with a short break in the middle. The sizes of tutorials will vary between a minimum of 10 to a maximum of around 35 attendees. Tutorial presenters will receive an honorarium of $500 (one honorarium per tutorial, not per presenter). Please refer to our website http://www.theassc.org/assc_17_call_for_tutorials for further information, and send the proposal along with submission requirements to Tobias Schlicht by October 31st. Proposals should be no more than 6 pages in length and should include a summary, an outline timetable, and a short biography of the presenter(s).
