Following the great success of the first Understanding Value conference, we once again invite the submission of abstracts for Sheffield University’s second graduate conference on the theme of value. A great many areas of philosophy are concerned with questions about value. From the areas traditionally conceived as a part of ‘value theory’ – ethics, meta-ethics, aesthetics, social and political philosophy – to epistemology, metaphysics and philosophy of language, mind and psychology, there is a need to understand what value is, what it does and how it can best be conceived of. To this end, we invite submissions of high quality abstracts of 500-1000 words from graduate students with an interest in value, broadly construed. We welcome papers taking an analytic, continental, historical or cross-disciplinary approach to any of the many problems surrounding value, from graduate students working in any area of philosophy.
We welcome papers from graduate students, or those who have submitted a PhD in the last two years. All enquiries and submissions should be emailed to [email protected] by 1st February 2013.
